Ruadh’s most repeatable current-build direction uses Heavy finishers, shield and armour breaking, and healing. His 100 base health gives room to recover from mistakes, but movement 1 and Block stamina 5 make passive guarding a poor substitute for positioning.

Wait for a readable opening, commit to the hammer chain, then use Special and healing to restore the team through attrition.

Build at a glance

Part Priority
Core combo Light → Light → Heavy on the starting weapon or another confirmed Heavy route
Damage Heavy, finisher, shield/armour, exposed-target effects
Survival Healing, mitigation, and control rather than extended Block use
Crowd answer Knockback, Vortex, Linked coverage, or another wide effect

Core combat loop

  1. Move outside the captain’s immediate attack line.
  2. Begin the Light sequence early enough that the Heavy finisher meets the approaching target.
  3. Let the hammer break the shield or armour and clear space around the lane.
  4. Use the Special when its healing or invulnerability creates more value than holding the meter.
  5. Reposition instead of trying to Block a long sequence with five stamina.

Current players report Act 3 clears using this starting-weapon loop. That does not make every Heavy safe; the opening still has to be long enough for Ruadh’s animation.

Weapon choice

The starting hammer’s documented routes include Light → Light → Heavy and a three-Heavy chain. Later weapons change the hit count and total base damage:

  • Weapon 2 adds a four-Heavy route and longer Light-to-Heavy chain.
  • Weapon 3 costs 20 Meteor and adds Dodge- and Block-led options.
  • The fourth weapon includes multi-hit Heavy routes and a Block-led finisher.

Use the starting hammer until a later route solves an actual problem. A higher total value on paper does not help when the combo cannot fit the boss opening.

Emblem priorities

  • Omenbearer/Linked is repeatedly reported as a strong raw-damage and coverage option for Heavy finishers.
  • Crusader/Vortex can group fodder and add healing support.
  • Alchemist mitigation can help when Ruadh is repeatedly hit during recovery.
  • Ravager setup-payoff effects need a reliable way to apply their first condition before the Heavy.
  • Gambler can spike, but its chance-driven result is less consistent than a complete Heavy loop.

These are community-tested directions, not guaranteed offers. Keep a reliable Heavy action and choose whichever available family supplies damage, grouping, or sustain without removing its trigger.

Healing and Special timing

Players report using Ruadh’s Special both as a safety window and to recover health through dense groups. Save it for a fight where enough targets or team damage make the healing meaningful.

Do not assume healing removes the need to Dodge. A boss can interrupt the setup, move out of range, or deliver more damage than the current healing bonuses replace.

Solo and co-op

Solo Ruadh needs a crowd answer because slow movement makes scattered objectives expensive. In co-op, his shield break, armour shatter, knockback, and healing can create openings for faster heroes.

Tell the group before using the Special so wounded players stay within the useful area, and do not chase a mobile boss away from allies who are preparing their payoff.

Common mistakes

  • Holding Block through a full sequence despite extremely low Block stamina.
  • Beginning the Heavy string after the opening has already started closing.
  • Chasing scattered fodder instead of letting them enter hammer range.
  • Taking only single-target damage and having no answer for a collapsing lane.
  • Assuming a healing build can tank every boss mechanic.
  • Replacing the Heavy trigger for a rare synergy that is not complete.
